General Information About Asbestos & Mesothelioma
Mesothelioma is almost exclusively caused by exposure to asbestos, a mineral that has been amply mined for use in thousands of products. Even though its use has been outlawed in countries worldwide, the United States stands virtually alone in allowing asbestos products to continue to be produced and used.
An estimated 1.3 million people nationwide are exposed to asbestos annually. More than 3,000 people a year in the U.S. are diagnosed with mesothelioma.
